The athlete recorded her fastest time of one minute 54.61 seconds the previous season in the British capital.

The Olympic champion concluded her 800m season with a win at the women-only Athlos meet in New York on Friday night.

{The reigning Olympic champion, who earned third place at the World Championships recently, dominated an outstanding win in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was only her sixth race in a season impacted by a muscle issue.

Compatriot and global silver winner Georgia Bell finished second again in one minute 58.33 seconds, while St Vincent's Shafiqua M. (one minute 58.57) secured third place.

"I haven't competed much this year so it was likely easier for me to go out there and want to give it something," said the 23-year-old.

"The atmosphere out there is crazy so it was extremely enjoyable."

The women-only event packed Icahn Stadium in its second year, bringing a festive vibe to traditional track, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing traditional winners' medals.

The 23-times tennis major winner Serena W., who is married to the founder of Athlos Alexis Ohanian, was present to award the winners with their crowns.

Previous champions took home sixty thousand dollars (£44,603) - one of the largest prize purses in track and field.

The event also drew some of the sport's biggest names, as the Kenyan triple Olympic champion and global record breaker Faith K. won the mile, finishing in four hours 17.78 minutes.

American Brittany B., the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, secured the sprint double.
